Tom Cox's third book about the ups and downs of a life shared with multiple feline housemates does not disappoint. Anyone who has ever found themselves under the paw of a cat will absolutely love reading about The Bear, Ralph, Shipley and Roscoe as they unite to make sure Tom gets as little sleep as possible. Having read Tom's first two books "Under the Paw" and "Talk to the Tail" I knew I was in for a funny read but in The Good, The Bad and The Furry Tom's unique style of humour cracked me up time and again. This is a very intelligent and often poignant book that I would highly recommended for anyone who loves animals of any kind (not just crazy cat people). I didn't want it to end!Tags : The Good, The Bad and The Furry: Life with the World's Most Melancholy Cat and Other Whiskery Friends [Tom Cox] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. It is funny, sad, irreverant and Tom Cox's writing style is a wonderful blend of wit and sarcasm will keep you glued to the book. I haven't had such a good time reading about a man's tribulations in life and Cat Handling. If you're a follower of The Bear or Tom Cox on Twitter, you're going to love this book!
My daughter is CAT CRAZY! She loves the author, so I bought herALL of Tom Cox's cat books for her birthday.
A great read, even if you aren't a crazy cat person.
A delightful book for anyone who loves, and is fascinated by, cats. Tom Cox is obviously one of those people.
All of Tom's cats have very unique habits and personalities but it is the Bear (somber, an over-thinker and definitely slightly neurotic) and Ralph (handsome, smug and somewhat narcissistic) that I thought really stole the show.
For me, this book provided a lovely way to relax at the end of the day (despite the fact I was usually trying read it while my two Burmese cats struggled to see who could get the most attention from me).
I look forward to reading more of Tom Cox's books and continuing to follow the Bear's and Ralph's adventures on Facebook.
I was going to save this book until I'd read the first two (which have not yet arrived), but I cannot resist The Bear. Ever. Somehow, he would misinterpret saving it for later for putting off and I would not like making him more sad. I hope that in the not too distant future, Mr Cox can get a US publisher. A writing talent like his should have the largest audience possible.
I found this writer from Britain's Your Cat magazine and I always enjoyed his comical writings about his silly and thoughtful cats. This book gives you a inside look at the writer's life and as well as the antics of his kitties and dealing with phantom stray cats! I love the stories about his obnoxious father and the cute relationship with a kitten of his own. Anyways, reading his stories give me a chuckle and appreciation to all things cats!
Tom Cox and his furry family are always entertaining with their antics. It's light but still covers the serious subjects perfectly. There were times I was crying and others when I laughed out loud (many more times laughing than not). A great read.
I will state upfront that I have fallen madly in love with The Bear, the star of this book, and that may colour my opinion a little, but not much. The Good The Bad and The Furry is such a charming wonderful read, the first chapter took me from laughing like a loon to bawling my eyes out and then back to laughing.
Tom Cox is a warm and personable writer, he draws you in and makes you care so very deeply about not only The Bear, but the rest of his kitty family, Ralph, Shipley and Roscoe. However it is The Bear who is the star, melancholy soulful Bear, with eyes that can see right through you and seem to be asking "why am I not an owl".
I can guarantee that you will love this book and fall in love with The Bear as quickly as I did
