Many of the themes resonated personally with my own family’s experiences from the WWII era. It is heartbreaking and heart healing. Be prepared and have tissues handy. No, not just tissues. Have a box of tissues handy. You’ll need it. Make it to the end and your perseverance will be rewarded. I promise.

Loved this story. Could not put my Down. Cat Gardiner is one of my favorite writers. Her writing draws you in like you have movie in front of your eyes as you can see everything so clear.
I loved this book! It really held my interest and it's hard to find a book that does that!!!
I'm a new fan of this author... She never fails to deliver a well written story. This particular one is very touching.
I read this book, but it just did not seem to flow and the dialogue seemed stilted.
Lol, the " frequent sex" at seventy something was quite a stretch.
I am a big fan of books set during WW2. This book was mostly a love story set during the war years. It touched on events happening at that time but mainly was about Lizzy and Will’s undying love that lasted a lifetime. The book was enjoyable from the first page until the last. Times were very different in the 40’s than they are today which colored the choices that Lizzy was forced to make. If you are a romantic, you will love this book.
This story spanned 50 years between Elizabeth Renner and William Martel and was heartbreaking, exciting and nail-bitingly fantastic. Cat writes bringing us into WWII history involving Nazi sympathizers, the horrifying ways the Jews were treated and the all encompassing US patriotism of many of the characters. The love story that spanned 50 years is the heart of the central story-telling and is extremely moving and touching!! I can see a continuing story involving the children and grandchildren if Lizzy, John and William, Cat Gardiner! How about it!?
